Patchwork
Curation & design work. Patchwork exhibition and opening night. March 2025.
Patchwork was an exhibition and evening of live performances held at STAT HQ (Leigh Spinners Mill) to celebrate the release of STAT14, but mostly to gather lots of people in one room.
Art exhibited included a hand etched car window (Gee Collins - St Helens), a series of 60 square paintings tracking the urban development of Little Hulton, Salford (esK - Little Hulton), the replica of a Premier newsagents sign shrinkwrapped in black vinyl (Tommy Ryoma - Bury), an interactive exhibit of analogue photographs taken of Blackpool (Susie Jones - Chorley) and the paintings of Thomas Naughton (Bolton) and Evie O'Connor (Derbyshire). Hannah Browne (Preston) also performed an interactive exhibit involving bubble blowing.

Live performances included the experimental use of a Henry hoover, in tandem with improvised trombone and french horn - this part of the night took place out front of Spinners Mill, surrounding a parked car (The Commission for New and Old Art); a noise performance by STAT's resident musician, George Francis Lee; and a spoken word folk guitar performance by The Dissonance Collective (Chorley/Preston).
Following the main acts of the night, attendees were invited to join the performers in an improvised finale.
Following the opening night of performances, Patchwork remained open for visitors on a weekly basis for the remainder of March.
